Services are generally organized according to diagnosis, which serves a purpose but limits the capacity to provide each child, youth and family with fully personalized care and a full range of services. There are also several areas within the organization that could be transformed to bring Holland Bloorview to the next level: Holland Bloorview is a significant partner in this innovation. There is considerable innovation underway across the province to create greater connectivity between different services and across health care to advance population health and to create more fully integrated services for children and youth with complex needs. Children and youth with disabilities are often not fully supported in schools, community settings, home care, transportation and workplaces. There are gaps in care for emerging needs such as comprehensive services for people with autism spectrum disorder. Health services are hard to navigate, often disconnected and difficult to access. Holland Bloorview has a deeply committed team of staff, health-care providers, scientists, volunteers, students, educators and peer alumni who continually work to create even more meaningful care.Īt the same time, for many children, youth and families, there is a disparity between the experience they have at Holland Bloorview and what happens beyond our walls. The next generation of health-care providers is being taught and is developing new concepts through their work in this environment.
